At the height of the AIDS epidemic and to this day, there is an ever-present risk of medical and scientific personnel being infected from injuries caused by the removal of contaminated disposable scalpel blades from the non disposable handles.
To remedy this, Pemberton Dear invented, designed and engineered the disposable scalpel blade remover. Over the years this simple moulded device, which removes and securely encapsulates the blade prior to disposal, has prevented many an injury and, who knows, saved many a life.
